Our church

Trinity Baptist Church - Warrenton, VA

Trinity Baptist Church is an independent Baptist church located just south of Warrenton, VA on U.S. 15/29. Our church is easily accessible from anywhere in the Northern Virginia area. The church facilities are located on 10 beautiful acres with a fantastic view of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

There are more than 15,000 independent Baptist churches in America and at least 10,000 Independent Baptist missionaries serving on mission fields worldwide. Every independent Baptist church is an autonomous congregation. We are self-governing and self-supporting. The Head of the church is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Bible is our sole authority for faith and practice.  It is our desire to be a true New Testament church.

At Trinity Baptist Church we have one message - the message of the Lord Jesus Christ, and one ministry - the ministry He has giving us to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.

Our History

"To God be the Glory - Great things he hath done!

For several years as a young preacher, Vinton Williams felt a burden for Fauquier County. In March 1973, under God's leadership, he and his family moved to Warrenton to start a brand new church. Together with a handful of families they began meeting in the basement of the old Marshall National Bank and Trust building (now PNC Bank). On January 18, 1974, Trinity Baptist Church was officially organized.

As the congregation began to grow, more meeting space was required. So in the summer of 1975, Pastor Williams and the young congregation began to hold services at the P.B. Smith Elementary School on Dumfries Road. During this time, they began to seek the Lord's leading concerning the purchase of property  centrally located in Fauquier County; the Lord certainly answered prayers!  Construction of the church building began in early 1976 and on January 16, 1977, the congregation held the first service in their brand new building. On October 28, 1977, an additional five acres of adjacent property was purchased.

Since the beginning, it has been our first passion to fulfill Christ's Great Commission to the church. We praise the Lord for what He has allowed us to do for Him here in Warrenton.  Under Pastor Williams' leadership, we have experienced the blessing of seeing many souls saved and many other lives touched through the ministries the Lord has entrusted us with.

On May 5, 2024, our 50th Anniversary Sunday, Dr. Vinton Williams retired as Pastor Emeritus and now resides in North Carolina.

New to TBC?

Welcome!

Visiting any church for the first time can be intimidating, so we want to put you at ease. Your first visit to Trinity Baptist Church will be refreshing, friendly, and enjoyable for you and your family. You will experience inspiring music, helpful teaching and preaching, friendly people, and a place where you feel welcome and "at home"! Here are a few answers to some questions you might have...

WHAT CAN I EXPECT ON MY FIRST VISIT? You can expect a warm greeting at the door! Any usher or church member will gladly direct you to the auditorium or to any appropriate classroom for you or your children. Adults attend our worship services where there will be uplifting congregational singing and inspiring music from our choir, orchestra and vocalists. The music is always followed by a clear, helpful and challenging Bible message from our pastor, Pastor Jim Shelton.

WHAT ARE YOUR SERVICES LIKE? We are an independent, fundamental Baptist church.  Our services include a friendly atmosphere, exciting Godly music (traditional, non-contemporary) and excellent preaching from the King James Bible.

WHERE DO I TAKE MY SMALL CHILDREN? At every service there are safe, clean, and highly staffed nursery workers for children three years old and under. You will be able to enjoy the services knowing that your children will be well cared for. Ask any usher or any church member where the nursery is located.

HOW SHOULD I DRESS? As a visitor, we are more concerned that you find a place where your life needs can be met through Jesus Christ. Yet we understand your need to feel comfortable when visiting a new church.  You will find that our staff and church family dress modestly and in a more traditional “Sunday best” dress.

AM I EXPECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE OFFERING? No. We don't invite you to Trinity Baptist Church for your offering. We want our service to be a gift to you. We hope you will find in this place a warm family spirit, truth from God's Word, and a place where you can grow in God's grace. Please don't feel any obligation to participate in the offering as a guest.   If you have any other questions just give us a call or ask someone when you arrive. Whether you are new to the area and looking for a church home, or if it has been a long time since you have attended church, we hope your first visit to Trinity Baptist Church will be a blessing. We look forward to meeting you and your family personally.

WE HOPE TO SEE YOU THIS SUNDAY!
